L’Oscar Hotel is a lavish, new boutique hotel in the heart of Holborn. Built between 1901 and 1903, in the style coined ‘Edwardian Free Baroque’, the building was once the London headquarters of the Baptist Church. After the building suffered damage during WWII, it eventually fell out of use. The restoration of this magnificent building began in 2012.
Campbell Smith and Co were commissioned to provide consultancy and implement the extravagant and highly specialist fine finishes, designed by Jacques Garda.
Our conservation team undertook cleaning and stripping of the highly decorative ceilings. Our specialist decorating team worked to produce the elaborate stencil schemes to the bedrooms, and the intricate faux tadelakt schemes to the bathrooms.
